  • NEWLY APPOINTED CIVIL AFFAIRS OFFICER - 57 INFANTRY DIVISION ASSUMED OFFICE

    Lt Col WMJK Karunarathna RSP ISC, assumed duties as new CAO of the 57 Infantry Divison on 07.07.2025 on an auspicious time. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the 57 Infantry Divison extended their wishes to the newly appointed CAO on the assumption of the duties in the new appointment.

  • 141 Inf Bde troops Support Dengue Prevention Efforts in Attanagalla and Dompe Area

    Troops of the 6th Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery and 8th Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry, under command to the 141 Infantry Brigade, actively participated in a comprehensive dengue prevention programme conducted in collaboration with the respective MOH office in Attanagalla and Dompe areas on 03, 04 & 05 July 2025, contributing significantly to the national campaign against dengue.

  • “Swift Army Response Prevents Bush Fire Spread in Koongahawela, Balangoda”

    As per the instruction of GOC 61 Infantry Division and under the close supervision of Commander 572 Infantry Brigade, 02 x 25 troops of 18th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard promptly responded to a bush fire that erupted in the Koongahawela area of Diyawinna, Balangoda. Upon receiving information, the troops swiftly mobilized to the affected location and carried out a well-coordinated effort to bring the situation under control. Their timely intervention was instrumental in preventing the fire from spreading to nearby forest patches, farmlands, and residential zones, thereby averting potential environmental and property damage. This prompt and disciplined response by the Sri Lanka Army once again reflects its unwavering commitment to public safety, environmental protection, and disaster response readiness in times of national need.

    Major General W S V Fernando USP ndc IG assumed duties as the 21 General Officer Commanding of the 61 Infantry Division on 01 July 2025 at the Headquarters 61 Infantry Division - Boossa amidst formal military traditions.

  • ASSISTANCE DURING THE FIRE AT SAMPATH STICKER, A PRIVATE VEHICLE DECORATION INSTITUTE IN WEHERA, KURUNEGALA

    Fire was reported at the warehouse of the private company, wehera sampath sticker vehicle decoration, kurunegala, at around 1400 hours on 03 july 2025, due to an electrical leuk. The fire was extinguished with the support of officers from the kurunegala fire rescue department, 00 x 30 troops from the Regimental Centre Sri Lanka National Guard and 02 x 30 troop including the commanding officer of the 9th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard.
