    A swift and efficient response by Sri Lanka Army troops helped restore normalcy on Gregory Road after a large tree fell across the roadway in front of D.S. Senanayake College, blocking the route from R.G. Senanayake Mawatha to Bauddhaloka Mawatha.

  • FIRE ENGULFS ENEX FOAM FACTORY IN PANADURA NO CASUALTIES REPORTED

    Panadura, November 24, 2025 a major fire broke out at the Enex Foam Factory in Panadura, causing significant damage to the facility's main building and storage areas. The blaze erupted around 1:45 pm prompting an immediate response from multiple fire brigades. Teams from the Air Force, Kalutara, and Moratuwa rushed to the scene to combat the flames that threatened to spread throughout the industrial complex. The firefighting operation saw a substantial deployment of resources, with three officers and 24 personnel from the 1 Sri Lanka Pioneer Corps joining the effort. The combined teams worked through the afternoon to bring the fire under control.

  • WELFARE PROGRAMME FOCUSES ON DENGU PREVENTION

    In line with the annual civil welfare programme, under the supervision of the Commander of the 613 Infantry Brigade and the Commanding Officer 3rd Battalion The Gemunu Watch organized a dengu prevention programme at 416/C Fort, Grama Niladhari Division on 19.11.2025 from 0800 hrs to 1400 hrs, with the assistance of 02 x 20 tps of this bn, 16 officers from the Medical Officer of Health Office Matara and 05 officers from the Matara Police Station.

    Heavy rainfall on November 20, 2025, led to a breach of the Rathmal Oya Bank in the Welpalla Grama Niladhari Division, causing severe damage and submerging nearly 20 acres of paddy fields.

  • “TROOPS OF 18 SLNG RESTORE THE TRANSPORTATION ALONG RAJAWAKA - KAPUGALA ROAD FOLLOWING RAINFALL.”

    As per the instructions by GOC 61 Infantry Division and close supervision of Commander 572 Infantry Brigade in response to the rainfall that affected the Balangoda area, 01 x 10 troops of the 18 SLNG promptly extended their assistance to clear a fallen tree that had obstructed the Rajawaka - Kapugala road at around 1800 on 17 November 2025. The troops swiftly engaged in removing debris and restoring the passage, enabling the reestablishment of normal vehicular movement along the route. Their timely action of the Sri Lanka Army enabled continuous smooth transportation along the road for the normal routine of the civilians in the area, and especially for the students who are appearing for the G: C: E Advanced Level Examination on these days by demonstrating the Sri Lanka Army’s continued commitment to community welfare and disaster response efforts.

  • BEACH CLEANING UNDER A BEAUTIFUL WELIGAMA PROGRAMME
