The Commander Security Forces (West), Major General D.M.K.D.B. Pussella RWP RSP took over the duties as the 16th Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps on 08 June 2023. The 10th agricultural knowledge improvement and leadership development programme, themed ‘Haritha Niyamuwo’ was organized by the Wayamba Training Institute in collaboration with the troops of the 1 Sri Lanka National Guard of 143 Infantry Brigade under Security Forces (West) on 01 July 2023 at Wayamba Training Institute premises in Wariyapola in order to encourage the students to contribute to the world food safety programmes of the next generation.

The collective effort of Army personnel from 613 Infantry Brigade Headquarters and 2 (v) Battalion Gemunu Watch, under Security Forces (West), recently organized another humanitarian project to provide a delicious lunch for 56 children with special needs residing at Sambodhi Home in Galle. This initiative, which took place on 30 June 2023, aimed to bring joy and happiness to these children.

Troops of the 15 Drone Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery under 142 Infantry Brigade of 14 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West) have once again demonstrated their commitment to serving the community by volunteering their manpower for another noble project. In response to a request made by the chief Incumbent of the ‘Sri Punyaloka' temple at Watareka, Meegoda, the troops dedicated their time and effort during 21 to 30 June 2023 for various renovation tasks of the Sri Punyaloka temple.

Road accidents have become a persistent issue within the Army, prompting the need for proactive measures to address this growing concern. In response to this alarming trend, the 141 Infantry Brigade under the 14 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West) organized a one-day workshop on the topic of "Prevention of Traffic Accidents" on 28 June 2023, at Brigade Headquarters premises.
