As a request made by the National Thalassemia Organization– Katunayaka , Security Force (West) launched a Blood Donation Campaign, as per the directions promulgated by the Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva, with the close supervision of Major General D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (West) to aid the accute shortage of blood at Ragama Blood Bank, during the current COVID -19 pandemic situation.

Strengthening the government’s effort in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, Army’s Response had become the biggest ever homeland military operation in this crucial juncture, on the directions of General Shavendra Silva, Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, with the close supervision of Major General D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (West), a mass vaccination programme with two vaccines including both 1st and 2nd doses of the AstraZeneca (Covishield) and the Sinopharm is being successfully conducted at the Panagoda Bodhi Rajaramaya (Army Temple) from 1st August 2021 onwards.

Upon the request made by the Director Teaching Hospital Karapitiya, as per the directions promulgated by the Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva, Major General D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Force (West) along with the close supervision of the General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division Major General D G Hewage RSP coordinated the task in order to provide a quick response to strengthen the capacity of the health care system, a newly improvised ICC which built within a short stretch of time was handed over to The Director of Teaching Hospital Karapitiya on 05th August 2021.

With the intention of enhancing the security and adding a new look to the Habarakada Entrance of the Army Cantonment - Panagoda, a new personnel entrance gate was declared open at the auspicious time in order to enter and exit to the premises by the Commander Security Force (West) Major General D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu in association with the Chief Signal Officer and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps Major General P A J Peiris ndu upon the invitation of the overlooking Second in Command of the 1st Engineer Services Regiment Major W C Perera on 05 August 2021.

Major General D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Force Headquarters (West) paid a visit to 611 Infantry Brigade on 20 July 2021 and the Commander 611 Infantry Brigade, Brig LAJLB Udowita RWP RSP warmly welcomed the Commander SF (West) at the entrance of the Brigade Headquarter.
