Due to the heavy rain and the storm conditions some huge trees fell down and caused severe damages to several houses, in Brawnswick Gaskipan state in the Nuwaraeliya District on 17 August 2018. Troops under command to 112 Brigade of Security Forces (Central), reported to the area on the direction of the Brigade Commander of 112 Brigade, Brigadier M W A A Wijesuriya RWP RSP USP. Accordingly, troops from 19 SLNG removed the fallen trees and debris intending to assist the victims of the incident.

Sri Dalanda Maligawa in Kandy is the most sacred religious place of the Buddhists and the Esala Perahera is one of the main events organized annually at Sri Dalanda Maligawa. Since this sacred place is located in the responsible area of Security Forces (Central), the security and other coordinating tasks of the perahera are done by the troops of SF (Cen). Accordingly, on 19 August 2018 General Officer Commanding of 11 Division, Major General T J Nanayakkara RWP USP ndu observed the progress of the scheduled events in which military assistance is provided.

A basic computer course was conducted with the instructions of the Directorate of Training in order to enhance the computer literacy of military personnel of Security Force Headquarters (Central) and its under command formations. The computer course was successfully conducted from 16 July 2018 to 15 August 2018 by the Future Step IT Solution Private Ltd.

The wildfire broke out in Seelawatta area of Haldummulla Divisional Secretariat which is situated within the responsible area of Security Forces (Central), was successfully controlled by the troops on 11August 2018.

The wild fire occurred on 10 August 2018 in Sapugoda Kanda, Aanapallama in the Monaragala District was doused by the troops on the direction of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias VSV USP ndc psc IG. The affected area is located in the responsible area of 121 Brigade of Security Forces (Central).

The prevailing dry weather condition in the responsible area of Security Forces (Central) is the reason behind many disasters in forest areas. Specially, the wild fire is occurred and it rapidly spreads destroying acres of forests. There, the troops under command to SF (Cen) are taking a great effort to control such situations.

Military personnel assisted the tree planting campaign which was organized by the Urban Development Authority. This campaign was named as “SahasakThuru” and launched in parallel with the island wide tree planting progammes. The inauguration ceremony of this programme was taken place with the participation of the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, Mr Patali Champika Ranawake at 0830 hours on 09 August 2018 at the land located in front of the Training School of Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) at Gannoruwa.

A shramadana campaign was conducted by the troops of the training school of Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) at Diyakapanathota Viharaya, Getambe in the Kandy District which is located in the responsible area of 11 Division of Security Forces (Central). In accordance with the guidance of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias VSV USP ndc psc IG, 10 Other Ranks participated in this charity campaign on 06 August 2018 and they were blessed by the Buddhist monks at the temple.
