Responsible area of Security Forces (central) is liable for many natural disasters. Consequently, on 14 July 2018 a sudden fire occurred in Makulara Kanda, Kumbukkana in the Monaragala District which is located in the responsible area of 121 Brigade of Security Forces (Central). Sooner the incident reported, the troops of 9 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) were tasked to control the fire on the direction of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias VSV USP ndc psc IG.

A sudden fire occurred in Haldummulla - Wangedigala area in the Badulla District around 1600 hours on 13 July 2018. The mentioned area is located within the responsible area of Security Forces (Central) and the troops of Security Forces Headquarters (Central) controlled the fire on the directions of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias VSV USP ndcpsc IG.

The Bridge which constructed across the Katupila Area in Yala is now being used by thousands of devotees to cross the difficult area without any inconvenience. A National programme was organized under the patronage of HE the president, intending to build up drug free country. This timely programme was initiated on 11 July 2018 from 0930 hours to 1230 hours at Getambe ground, Kandy which is located in the responsible area of Security Forces (Central) with the participation of the ministers, state workers, school children and civilians. Representing the SL Army, General Officer Commanding of 11 Division, Major General T J Nanayakkara RWP RSP USP ndu along with officers and other ranks participated in the programme.

The Pada Yatra traditionally starts from points in the Jaffna peninsula and terminated in Katharagama. This is an annual event which thousands of Hindu devotees take on in order to attend the Esala festival in Katharagama which is scheduled to be held on 13 July 2018. This year also this foot pilgrimage was commenced from Jaffna a month ago and over six thousand pilgrims reached Katharagama on 09 July 2018 across Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Pothuvil, Kumana and Yala sanctuaries. During this event the pilgrims reach the destination with a lot of hardships each year. Therefore, troops of 23 Gajaba Regiment in conjunction with the Ruhunu Maha Katharagama Devalaya assisted the pilgrims on the direction of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias VSV USP ndc psc IG.

A medical clinic was conducted at the Viru Kekulu Pre- School, Diyatalawa which is located in the responsible area of Security Forces (Central) on 11 July 2018 with the guidance and the supervision of Mrs Thanuja Dias, the Lady In Charge of Viru Kekulu Pre- School, Diyatalawa. For this medical clinic doctors at the Army Base Hospital, Diyatalawa extended their service to ensure the good health of the kids. The teachers of the Pre-School as well as the parents of the kids also participated in this clinic.

Thousands of earnest devotees hailing from all communities specially Tamil Hindus are undertaking the annual Pada Yatra or foot pilgrimage through Yala National Park to Katharagama during Esala festival that commence in the month of July every year. During this event pilgrims used to reach the destination with a lot of hardships. Therefore, it is essential to provide required assistance to the participants in order to ensure the safety and security during the journey within the respective AOR. On the direction of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias VSV USP ndc psc IG, these devotees were welcomed and assisted by the military personnel on 09 July 2018.

A sudden fire occurred in Punchi Sripada (Mini Adam’s peak) in the general area Ella which is popular among tourists due to the scenic beauty of the area. Further, the mentioned area is located within the responsible area of Security Forces Headquarters (Central). Considering the damage which might have occurred in the forest reserve and on the tourist industry of the area, the troops of this headquarters were tasked to control the fire on the direction of the Commander Security Forces (Central), Major General G R H Dias VSV USP ndc psc IG on 08 July 2018.
