One officer and 40 Other Ranks belonging to 14(v) Battalion Gamunu Watch under the 613 Infantry Brigade of 61 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West) launched a coastal belt cleaning project on 28 January 2023, in the Dewata coastal area in Galle, which remained highly polluted due to heaps of discarded wrappers, empty beer cans and polythene waste.
