    In a vibrant display of spiritual devotion and community service, Under the guidance and the close supervision of General Officer Commanding 61 Infantry Division Major General K T P De Silva RSP ndu psc, the Division Headquarters organized a grand scale Vesak celebration with a Vesak zone, drawing large crowds and bringing light and compassion to the sacred occasion of Vesak festival whilst fostering religious and community harmony in the area.

  • TREE FALLS ON GOTHATUWA BODHIMALU TEMPLE, A POLLING STATION FOR SRI LANKA'S 2025 LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTION

    On 5 May 2025, a large tree fell onto the roof of the Gothatuwa Bodhimalu Temple, which serves as a polling station for the 2025 Local Government Election in Sri Lanka. The incident caused significant damage to the structure. A team of 01 x 06 2(V) Battalion of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry promptly responded to the situation and carried out necessary repair work.

    A beach cleaning programme organized by the University of Ruhuna in collaboration with Zero Plastic Moment which is related to Marineglow project, was successfully conducted with the participation of 109 soldiers of Sri Lanka Sinha Regement on 03 May 2025 from 0830 hrs to 1200 hrs at general area Blue Beach.

  • Lecture on “Preventing Unethical Practices Carried out to Earn Money through Shortcuts”

    Under the supervision and guidance of Brigadier Malitha Ubesekara RSP psc Commander of the 142 Infantry Brigade a lecture on “Preventing Unethical Practices Carried out to Earn Money through Shortcuts” was counducted for the Officers and Other Ranks of the 142 Infantry Brigade at the Lecture Hall on 30th April 2025. The lecture was delivered by Maj H S Ranawaka of the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps and 04 officers and 56 other ranks participated.

  • 14 INFANTRY DIVISION SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTED A BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN AT APEKSHA HOSPITAL

    Blood transfusion centers play a crucial role in maintaining reserves for emergency transfusions needed by patients undergoing treatment for various illnesses and injuries, including those from traffic accidents. Due to a current shortage in these reserves, a request was made to the Army Hospital to encourage Army personnel to participate in blood donation drives to help replenish supplies.

  • 144 INFANTRY BRIGADE HEADQUARTERS ORGANIZED A SINHALA AND TAMIL NEW YEAR AVURUDU FESTIVAL

    The 144 Infantry Brigade Headquarters organized a Sinhala and Tamil New Year Avurudu Festival on 20 April 2025 to celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil New Year by boosting the morale of the soldiers through entertainment. The event was attended by Brigadier BYC Fernando RWP USP, Commander of the 144 Infantry Brigade, who served as the chief guest.

  • THE NEWLY APPOINTED DEPUTY COMMANDER OF SECURITY FORCES (WEST) ASSUMES DUTIES

    Major General J K R Jayakody RWP USP assumed office as the Deputy Commander of Security Forces (West) on 22 April 2025. The senior officer auspiciously took over duties amidst religious observances and placed his signature in an official document to signify the acceptance of his new office. The Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier (Admin & Quartering), Project Officer, Senior Officers and Officers of Security Forces Headquarters (West) extended their best wishes to the newly appointed Deputy Commander of Security Forces Headquarters (West) on the assumption of duties of the new appointment.
