The 9th Sri Lanka National Guard (9 SLNG) proudly organized a blood donation campaign at their battalion headquarters in Heraliyawala, Kurunegala, as a tribute to the brave Sri Lankans who laid down their lives for lasting peace in the motherland. This noble and humanitarian initiative was carried out under the visionary leadership of Commander Security Force (West), Major General UKDDP Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, with the dedicated supervision of General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division, Major General KDML Samaradivakara RWP RSP ndc psc. Commander 571 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier HHSPS De Silva RSP USP, and the meticulous coordination of Commanding Officer 9 SLNG, Major TSP Kumara RSP.

In line with World Environment Day on 05 June 2025, a series of tree planting programs were conducted under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (West), and as per the instructions of the General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division, Major General K T P De Silva RSP ndc psc. These environmentally focused initiatives were organized by troops of the 572 Infantry Brigade, the 11th Gemunu Watch, and the 18th Sri Lanka National Guard. A total 06 x 75 of soldiers actively participated in the programs, demonstrating their commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability. The efforts aimed to enhance green cover and promote ecological awareness in alignment with national and global environmental goals which operate under the command of the 572 Infantry Brigade.

In celebration of World Environment Day, a coastal area cleaning program was successfully conducted on 6th June 2025 under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (West), along with the instructions provided by the General Officer Commanding of the 14 Infantry Division, Major General K J N M P K Nawarathna RWP RSP ndu. This initiative, organized with the active participation of officers and other ranks of the 14 Infantry Division, took place along the Wellawatte coastal area. The program aimed to promote environmental conservation and raise awareness about the importance of maintaining clean and healthy coastal ecosystems. Personnel involved demonstrated a strong commitment to environmental responsibility, working diligently to remove waste and debris from the shoreline. Their collective efforts not only enhanced the aesthetic value of the area but also contributed to the protection of marine life and public health. This initiative reflects the Sri Lanka Army’s ongoing dedication to national environmental causes and community service, aligning with the global objectives of World Environment Day.

In line with World Environment Day, the 144 Infantry Brigade conducted a tree planting program on 6th June 2025 at the upper water retention basin area of the Thuru Mithuru Jogging Track. The event was held under the leadership of the Commander, 144 Infantry Brigade, and was conducted with the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (West), along with the instructions provided by the General Officer Commanding of the 14 Infantry Division. During this program, “KUMBUK” trees were planted with the aim of enhancing environmental sustainability, improving water conservation, and supporting the ecosystem of the area. The initiative reflects the Army’s continuous efforts to promote environmental stewardship and contribute to the betterment of the natural environment. Participation from officers and other ranks of the brigade showcased their dedication and unity in addressing environmental challenges. The program also helped raise awareness of the importance of tree planting in preserving nature for future generations.

In line with the programme to commemorate the Sri Lankans who sacrificed their lives for the peace of the motherland, on the guidance of Comd SFHQ (West), on the instruction of the GOC 14 Infantry Division, under the full supervision of the Comd 144 Infantry Brigade,2 (V) SLLI unit organized a tree planting programme in the Nawagamuwa area of,Malabe on 05th june 2025 and the programme was successfully carried out with the participation of officers of the Malabe Agricultural Service Office.

On Wednesday ,4th June 2025,in conjunction with the training day,a lecture was delivered by an officer of the welfare Directorate to 3X130 Officers and other ranks of the 14 Infantry Division and the Battalions Under the 142 and 144 Infantry Brigades at the 14 VIR lectre hall. The aim of the lecture was to provide serving personnel with a comprehensive understanding of the charitable activities and welfare services undertaken by the Directorate, and to encourage active involvement at the unit level.

In line with World Environment Day, observed on 05 June 2025, the 57 Infantry Division, together with troops from the 5th Regiment Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, organized a cleaning and tree planting programme at Batalegoda Lake and its surrounding areas.

A fire erupted at approximately 0530 hrs on 4th June 2025 at the Devmini Timber Store, located near Bokundara Junction in Piliyandala. Upon receiving information about the incident, troops from the 5th Sri Lanka Engineer Regiment and the 1st Sri Lanka Ordnance Corps were promptly dispatched to the location. Two teams, each comprising 20 personnel, actively engaged in firefighting operations alongside local fire and rescue services. Their swift and coordinated response played a crucial role in bringing the fire under control, thereby minimizing potential property damage and ensuring public safety. The Sri Lanka Army’s intervention was carried out under the supervision of the 14 Division Headquarters, in close coordination with civilian emergency response agencies. This timely military assistance highlights the Army’s continued commitment to supporting national disaster response efforts and safeguarding lives and property during emergencies.

As part of a community support initiative, troops from the 9th Sri Lanka National Guard took part in a large-scale cleaning project at Makulana Rajamaha Viharaya. The project was carried out over three days 08, 09, and 10 May 2025 and involved cleaning and restoring approximately five acres of temple grounds.
