A section of the Polgahawela - Ambepussa railway line was damaged by a landslide in the Yaththalgoda area, approximately 300 meters from the 58 km post between Bujjomuwa and Yaththalgoda stations. A mobile medical campaign was conducted in the Walauwatta, Ranala area on 5 December 2025 after floodwaters receded, providing essential healthcare to affected residents. A total of 182 individuals received treatment during the programme, supported by a medical team consisting of one doctor and two nurses from the Army Base Hospital, Panagoda. Additionally, one Officer and two Other Ranks from the 144 Infantry Brigade ensured smooth administrative coordination throughout the campaign.

Their timely intervention helped stabilize the structure, ensuring the safety of rail operations. As a part of its continued post-flood community assistance programme, 144 Infantry Brigade carried out cleaning activities at Ambathale Samudradevi Balika Vidyalaya with the support of one Officer and 31 Other Ranks from 1 SLAC, 9 GW, and 2(V) SLLI. The Brigade also coordinated similar efforts at Tikiri Kumara Girls’ Primary School, engaging one Officer and sixteen Other Ranks from 2(V) SLLI, along with nine Other Ranks from 1 Recce Regiment- SLAC. These efforts ensured safer and cleaner learning environments for students.
