  • 14 Infantry Division troops Donates Blood to Apeksha Hospital - Maharagama

    In a commendable humanitarian initiative, the Yamuna Weerathunga Foundation organized a blood donation program on 30 January 2025, from 0900 hrs to 1500 hrs to support the daily blood requirements of cancer patients at the Maharagama Apeksha Hospital. This program was conducted with the aim of addressing the continuous need for blood transfusions, which are essential for cancer patients undergoing treatment, particularly those receiving chemotherapy and other intensive therapies.

  • LECTURE ON NUTRITION SCIENCE CONDUCTED IN LINE WITH WEDNESDAY TRAINING PROGRAM

  • NEWLY APPOINTED COLONEL GENARAL STAFF 57 INFANTRY DIVISION ASSUMED OFFICE

    Col AWVD Abeysinghe RSP USP IG (O/64120) assumed duties as the Colonel Genaral Staff of 57 Infantry Division on 21 January 2025 on an auspicious time having the blessing of the Noble Triple Gem. All the officers and Other Ranks of the 57 Infantry Division extended their warm wishes to the newly appointed Colonel Genaral Staff on the assumption of the duties in the appointment.

  • Leadership Training Workshop Enhances Skills of University of Ruhuna’s Faculty of Technology Students

    Under the guidance of the Commander 613 Infantry Brigade and the supervision of the Acting Commanding Officer 9th Battalion, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, a leadership training workshop was successfully conducted on 23 January 2025. The event, held as part of the orientation program for 271 students of the Faculty of Technology at the University of Ruhuna, took place on the university premises in Kamburupitiya.

  • THE COMMANDER 142 INFANTRY BRIGADE ASSUMES THE OFFICE

    Brigadier M J Ubesekara, RSP psc, officially assumed duties as the 37th Commander of the 142 Infantry Brigade on 17 January 2025 at the Brigade Headquarters on Wickramaratne Mawatha,, amidst religious blessings. The newly appointed Commander was warmly welcomed by the Staff Officers and accorded a Guard Turnout by the troops of the 14th Battalion, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. As part of the occasion, he addressed the Officers and Other Ranks , sharing his vision for the Brigade’s future. The ceremony was attended by the Staff Officer of the Brigade and the Commanding Officers of the 5th Field Engineer Regiment, 6th Gajaba Regiment, and 14th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

  • 61 INFANTRY DIVISION CONDUCTED A THREE-DAY PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

    Under the visionary leadership of the General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division, Major General K T P De Silva RSP ndu psc, a three-day workshop on photography using mobile phones was successfully conducted from 21 to 23 January 2025 at the 61 Infantry Division Headquarters. The workshop aimed to promote photography as a medium to highlight the unparalleled activities of Army personnel, while also fostering creativity, self-expression, and skill development among participants.

  • RAISING AWARENESS AMONG ARMY OFFICERS AND OTHER RANKS ABOUT THE PREVENTION OF DANGEROUS DRUGS

    An awareness workshop on the prevention of dangerous drugs was conducted on 22nd January 2025, at the 14th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Lecture Hall. The session was led by Lieutenant Colonel W A N D Jayasundara, the Senior Rehabilitation Officer of the Colombo District 1 Division, Rehabilitation Bureau, along with Mrs. Dulshani Tharaka Mahanama and Mrs. Dilhara Waragoda from the National Board for the Control of Dangerous Drugs.

  • Beach Cleaning Program Organized by Matara District Secretariat in Conjunction with the “Clean Sri Lanka” Program

    As part of the Clean Sri Lanka Program, initiated under a government concept, a beach cleanup campaign was conducted in the Matara, Devinuwara, and Dikwella Divisional Secretariats on 16 January 2025, from 0730 hours to 1130 hours, under the theme “Beautiful Island, Smiling People.” The event was held under the patronage of the Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, Mr. Sunil Handunnetti, with the participation of the Minister of Women and Child Affairs, Mrs. Saroja Savithri Paulraj, Member of Parliament, Mr. Ajantha Gammaddage, Matara District Secretary, Mr. Ganesha Amarasinghe, and other government officials.
